This bible study is a continuation of a previous one. If you haven't read it yet or need a reminder, Click this link, but it's isn't needed, as they each stand on their own. A link has been incuded at the bottom, if the order in which you read them is not important, but you still want to read it.
Now that we see, at least a small part of how the world is Run. Let's take a look at how it would be if this world was really godly.
Since Jeremiah 1:5 has been at the top of the list since the 1st post, Lets start there, with a little context
.
" ¹ The words of Jeremiah the son of
Hilkiah, of the priest that were in
Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
² To whom the word of the LORD came
in the days of Josiah the son of Amon
king ofJuah, in the thirteenth year
of his reign.
³ It came also in the days of Jehoaikiam
the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto
the end of the eleventh year of
Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of
Judah, unto the carrying of Jesusalem
captive in the fifth month.
⁴ Then the word of the LORD came unto
me saying,
⁵ Before I formed thee in the belly I
knew thee: And before thou camest
forth out of the womb I sanctified thee,
and I, and I ordained thee a prophet
unto the nations.
⁶ The said I, Ah, LORD GOD! Behold, I
cannot speak: for I am a child.
Jeremiah 1:1-6"
The addional verses is the introduction of who Jeremiah was, and the time period this took place, as well as the trouble of the day.
v.6 Is Jeremiah's excuse as to why he couldn't speak. Initially, that was my only reason for including it; but, it does fit well with the blog. The lies we believe. We are raised up in them, and unless we seek out a better way, we will continue to believe them.
The lie of the day that Jeremiah believed was that he was to young to speak for the LORD. That lie still continues to this day. If your not, too young, your too old. The only reason these lies can silence us, is because we are so willing to just except them as truth, without question.
Here's another question. If we can and do except the lies as truth, why can't we even Moreno except truth as truth?
But wow! The way the Word of the LORD came to Jeremiah!
If these questions resonated with you in any way, maybe you should ask yourself, "what lies have I been believing?"
Can I make a suggestion? Sit down and start a list, of lies, even if you are not sure if it's a lie. Put a question mark at the end to indicate that your unclear on it being a lie. And with the one's that you know beyond the shadow of a doubt are lies, indicate those with an explanation point. You can put them in one long list or divide them into columns, whatever is easiest for you to do.
Then with an open Bible, find out what it has to say. Don't know your way around the bible, these days that's not a problem. A quick Google search will get you pretty close to where what your looking for.
I recommend the physical copy of the Bible, as many verses you will look up, will contain reference verses either at the end of the verse or a the dedicated center could of references. Personally, I prefer the end of the verse reference, as I find them easier. They might address the same subject, or it could be simply the same word was found in more than just that verse, and that word is the only thing that ties them together.
Locate the context of why those words were spoken. Once found, find where the context ends, ever how many verses are in that context, that's what you read. Take Jeremiah for example. My heart was set on 1: 5 as a place to start, but I wanted to give a context as to why those words were spoken, so I included the 4 verses above it, and one below it to indicate the lie he believed. Of course it continues, but why type out all those words when you can read them in your own bible, or bible app?
This is one example, but this one was also pretty easy, as it's at the very beginning of the book. But Wow! What an encouragement! As we see though, it was not received as an encouragement, due to the lie he came to believe.
"I knew you before you were formed in the belly ...", only to respond with: "I cannot speak, I'm a child."
Another one to look at is John 3:16, the most quoted verse in the bible. Even people who could care less about the bible knows this verse. That just how powerful it is.
" ¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
Beautiful words. But, how many people realized that this beautiful verse came almost in the middle of a conversation between 2 men at night?
" ¹ There was a man of the Pharisees,
named Nicodemus, a ruler of the
Jews:
² The same came to Jesus by night,
and said unto Him, Rabbi, we know
that thou art a teacher come from
God: For no man can do these things
that thou doest, except God be with
him.
John 3:1-2
As you see, The chapter begins by letting us know why this conversation took place. "A man came to Jesus by night." the man's name is Nicodemus, and his occupation is of the Pharisees, "A ruler of the Jews."
Verse 2 contains quite a bit of information. First, Nicodemus does show respect by addressing Jesus as Rabbi, followed by a confession.
"We know that thuo art a teacher come from God." They knew it, and crucified Him anyway? Why would they deny, and reject Him? The same reason rulers do today. Biblical Christianity is a threat to the system. Their occupation. If we don't buy it, they can't sell it.
Think about it, the more that people come to this knowledge, the less they rely on what the "rulers" says. That is seen as a threat. So, they have to speak down on the bible. Make those of us who do follow it seem crazy. Jesus freaks. Get the message out that the bible is nothing more then made up stories. Alagorial. And top it off by getting as many made up and confusing doctrines out, so people don't know what is true. One says this, another says that, someone else says something else. It's just easier not to believe, because its all just so confusing. It's meant to be confusing, that's the way the Spirit of anti-christ works. so that you will never come to the knowledge of the truth. Before you start reading the bible, ask for Holy Spirit guidance, He will guide you to the what truth is..
Jesus finishes His chat with Nicodemus in v.21, and we know this because the next verse begins with: "After these things." That's always a good indicator of the beginning and the ending of contextual reading. So, let's wrap up John 3 with its closing verse:
" ³⁶ He that believeth on the Son hath
everlasting life:
And he that believet not on the Son.
shall not see life; but the wrath of God
abideth on him.
John 3:36"
Before wrapping up, Let me ask a question to any reader that places no value on the word of God. Why? Is your life fulfilling without it? Is it because it was pounded into you that it is a book of unproven tales? Your life is the only proof thats needed. Does it feel like something is missing? Perhaps this is what is missing.
One more brief example then I'll wrap this part up. The verses below are a contrast of the struggles that the apostle Paul spoke about in Chapter 7. Therefore, to really understand these verses, you have to go back and read the previous chapter; then it makes sense.
" ¹ There is Therefore now no
condemnation
to them which are in Christ Jesus, who
walk not after the flesh, but after
the Spirit.
² For the law of the Spirit of life in
Christ Jesus hath made me free from
the law of sin and death.
Roman's 8:1-2"
I will most likely continue this in another blog, as I had many more verses typed out. However, what was hard to get started, now has no end to it.
